3 points: (1) I'm treating Titans as another alternate earth with a new continuity (and see point 3);(2) Wiki history of (Teen) Titans is incomplete--I counted >20 titles for the team(s), across >8 continuities (counting 'toons). Not all of it is worth respecting; the earliest years are embarassingly camp. The versions with Jericho and later Connor (who is coming back soon in yet another continuity) and recent super-sons are high points, but each rewrote the characters. (And with each change, fans debated hotly.) (3) Warner does care very much about DC Universe, since next year's post-Detective 1000/Doomsday Clock comics RE-RE-RE...BOOT will (probably) incorporate it and the Arrowverse. Merchandising and movies/tv shows bring in big profits; comics barely break even. And when many movie/tv fans look to continue that experience in a comic, they've been confused or turned off, as Marvel learned the hard way (think Hemsworth vs. a WTF female Thor...)
@Matohoyoshi you really arent reading what people say are you. dude i dont give two shits how the characters act i dont. i never even gonna watch this shitshow im just saying your WRONG about there not being anything just called titans again someone else said it a few comments back you clearly cant accept retcons or characters changes the creators of these things can do what they want. literally your first instinct everytime someone proves you wrong is to insult them for no reason if i might add i wasnt being rude to you or anything well smart guy whats the defintion of amazing it is causing great surprise or wonder; astonishing someone can watch something complete shit and it still causes great surprise and wonder bro if you dont like the fucking characters go back to your 50 year old comic books things change not to mention dc tv shows dont even matter in the run of comic canon anything might as well complain abou the flash oh why is he friends with killer frost oh lord she is a villain oh this show is shit becuase they did not adapt the character properly dude reread all these comment on this and understand you are wrong period and now im done because i know you wrong and everyone else reading these knows your wrong lol you lose bye
@stevenlhargrove You are full of shit. That is all there is to say. The fact that you think he knows the source material better than someone that has been reading the source material and other comics for over 30 years is just laughable. Fact, Dick Grayson would never say what he said about Batman in the premiere episode. That is not even debatable. Dick Grayson and Batman have had arguments in the past but he has ALWAYS respected Batman. Fact, Starfire is not now, nor has she EVER been a cold blooded killer like we were shown in the premiere episode. Fact, Raven is not some scared little girl, nor has she ever been in any source material. Fact, the show is based off the Teen Titans and he claimed it wasn't. Fact, if they wanted a Robin that acts the way that Dick Grayson acts in the two episodes I have seen so far, they could have gone with Damian Wayne and used that iteration of the Teen Titans, but they didn't and are ruining Dick Grayson's character. You can like the show if you want, but outright lying to justify it is just ridiculous and I won't entertain it anymore. Say whatever you want, this will be my last reply. But, maybe you should actually read the comics before replying on it.
I kind of dropped out of this thinking it would die surprised its still happening will just say @Kruciphix is right @Matoyoshi there were three iterations of the teen titans just called Titans one in 1999-2002 (main team was Nightwing, Troia, Arsenal, Tempest, Flash, Starfire, Cyborg, Changeling) vol 2 in 2008 (main team was Nightwing, Starfire, Donna Troy, Beast Boy and Raven) this is the one the show is most likely based around FYI and another in 2016 (team featuring Damian Wayne as Robin, Wally West II as Kid Flash, Jackson Hyde as Aqualad, Beast Boy, Starfire and Raven) so when it comes to knowing the source material @Kruciphix has you there
There are dc comics books only called Titans.. You just said '' You ruined any chance of me taking anything you say seriously.... You have only proven yourself to have no intelligence with every comment'' YOU CAN'T be taking seriously yourself you contradict yourself in every comment you make you aren't even smart enough to see that..... Learn how to not contradict yourself first and comeback later bye and hace a nice day lol
@Kruciphix You ruined any chance of me taking anything you say seriously when you tried to claim that Teen Titans is not the source material. You can't say something like that and then call someone else stupid. You have only proven yourself to have no intelligence with every comment. You can believe whatever you want, but you are factually incorrect. You can have whatever opinion you want but facts do not care about opinion. Just get over it.
@Kruciphix This dude is hilariously ignorant. I doubt he's even aware of the irony of the accusation of flat-earth logic applied to himself, which in itself is a comparison that's out of place considering the forum. At least he types with his heart, though. lol
LOL you contradict yourself... You are saying that you agree with me about the fact that we can all have different opinion but yet you are telling us that we can't say that the show is amazing (witch is an opinion) if we care about the source material... so stop talking before you look even more stupid
@Kruciphix That's hilarious, you telling someone to go back to school when you can't even understand source material. Your opinion means nothing when you outright lie like that. Simple fact, the show is not amazing, period. You like it, that doesn't make it amazing in any way. @DarkFace You have the right to disagree with whatever you want, doesn't change the facts. The show is mediocre at best and changes just about everything about the characters it represents. That is simple fact and doesn't matter if you believe it or not. It's like people not believing that the earth is round, facts don't care if you believe in them or not.
Hellfist. Don't forget science fiction and fantasy have created just about every scientific step forward BEFORE we could physically do it. But one thing your right about, no inventors will be watching this season for ideas….too bad! And Star Trek introduced the flip movie phone 30 yrs before they could make it! (give or take a decade) Enjoy the escapism, i'm an actor/director so i have other reasons to watch what and how episodes i watch. But yes, first, escapism! Radi
Goddam i hate Karen Page. as Soon as i saw this season would have Bullseye i hoped she would die like in the comics but NOOOOO had to kill awesome Father from the church love this show but everytime i see or hear Karen Page she is whining and being an annoying bitchy hypocrite damn why arent you dead.
Some of this show can be accepted in part of the message, but laws are laws and breaking them you are a criminal. This is yet another show forcing the message of pride in a nation and hate of illegals is wrong, in part hate because of nationality is wrong. But coming here breaking the laws of the land is wrong too, this has become slandered in tv and movies i guess now.
what was this a history lesson bringing up old wounds to relive past issue and trying to superimpose them on to what is going on today. Rossa parks is a great historical figure and king as well and if alive today would be shaming all those so called rights people who everyday blame another for their own faults. This show is going to far down the fact it is a sci fi show and the bit about aliens seems to get lost in this one. Was one of the all time worst episodes yet, very bad writing like shoehorning the politics and world issues into my escape from reality. Sorry but i watch sci fi and fantasy because they are a way to distance my self from life not to have it force fed to me.
I disagree with everything you've said except the part when you say it's mediocre. You seem to have a problem with retcons that occur in film and TV. That's a problem you and other opinionated shitheads have that I don't. As for it being mediocre, that's debatable.
And no one give a shit about what you think .IF YOU DON'T GET THAT EVERYONE CAN HAVE AN OPINION STOP ARGUING. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE SHOW THEN YOU DON'T LIKE LIKE BUT DON'T TRY TO CONVINCE PEOPLE THAT THEY SHOULD NOT LOVE IT. YOU DON'T LIKE THE SHOW SAY IT AND THAT'S IT DON'T JUDGE OTHERS BECAUSE THEY LOVES THE SHOW EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT OPINION ABOUT EVERYTHING AND WE ALSO HAVE DIFFRENT TASTE DON'T DON'T GET TO CHOOSE FOR OTHERS MEN SO SHUT THE HELL UP AND KEEP YOUR OPINION ABOUT US (PEOPLE WHO LIKE THIS SHOW) TO YOURSELF THAT IS SIMPLE . EVERONE IS DIFFERENT IF YOU DON'T GET THAT THEN GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!
@DarkFace You are right, to a point. The difference is, the good shows actually DO "give a shit" about source material. The ones that don't, often fail miserably. It's happened time and time and time again. Sorry, but the show is, again, at best, mediocre.
Hollywood doesn't give a shit about your source material; it hold little weight in being a measurement of how successful a show is. Remember that most people who're tuning aren't angry nerds overly concerned with accuracy to comic book canon. What you consider canon might as well be a retcon. It's happened before and it'll happen again. Only this time it's on TV instead of paper. It's a decent enough show, IMO. That's what really matters; whether you like or not. Pretty simple.
@Kruciphix You have no clue what you are talking about. There is no Titans, Teen Titans IS the source material, period. It doesn't matter what you say when you cannot even get that very simple fact straight. And again, as I have said at least twice now, if you want to say you enjoy the show, that's perfectly fine, but the fact still remains that calling it Amazing is BS. Get over it.
Titans is the source material not teen titans and you say whatever you want but we can say that the show is amazing even if it doesn't respect the source material.. IT IS AN OPINION if you can't accept that's too bad for you And one more thing MAYBE at the end of the season or in season 2 the character will look and act more like in the comics It's just the 2nd episde after all
@Kruciphix Of course there isn't a comic book show or movie that perfectly reflects the source material. I quite clearly said that a little change is fine. But this ISN'T a little change. This show is NOTHING like the Teen Titans, which IS the source material, period. You can like the show all you want, but as I said before, when it changes that much from the source material calling it amazing is just being dishonest. There is no defending that much of a change if you are a fan of the source material. You can say whatever you like, but calling it amazing is just BS.
And it's not because we don't respect the source material that we say it's amazing it's because we like the show, the action, the story, etc. Plus Starfire is a killer because she just don't remember who she is and she didn't remember that she had power... Btw Teen titans and titans not quit the same thing
What the fuck, should called this season blind man in black he never even once put the fucking suit on. What is the deal with not wearing the fucking costumes, i mean it is a comic book character and the costume is part of that whole thing. Like shooting a show about space but no one ever goes there they just stay on the planet.
@stevenlhargrove I agree that they could be amazing, but in this case they aren't. To be honest, I found the actress playing Starfire's acting to be atrocious. And it's one thing, like I said before, if they changed small things in the lore. That isn't the case here. They changed the very basis of the characters, that isn't a small thing. They made Raven into a scared little girl, they made Dick Grayson into an ungrateful prick that has become a bully. They made Starfire into a ruthless killer. None of that is even close to being accurate to the characters. The ONLY way a person could say the show is amazing is if they have never once read any of the comics or watched any of the cartoons or animated movies. It's one thing to say you enjoy the show. I wouldn't say a word about that, but to say the show is amazing when it doesn't resemble the Teen Titans at all, is just being dishonest.
@Matoyoshi while i disagree with @codexhound about it being the best DC show on right now (i think arrow tbh) @Kruciphix is right dude he can say the show is amazing. However i will say i agree with you in the context of teen titans lore not entirely on point but when it comes to A. the acting, B.The plot and C.the characters and settings those can be amazing even if the lore canonicity is not
@Kruciphix You can say whatever you want. That doesn't change the simple fact that by calling something amazing that has so many problems and resembles the source material in nothing more than name shows that you don't care about the source material at all. It would be fine if i was a few small changes, but it isn't. This is changing the very basis of the characters and it is far from amazing. Call it whatever you want, doesn't make it true.
@Kruciphix I agree that everyone has a different opinion, but to call a show amazing when it has so many problems and doesn't resemble the source material in anything but name is not a good opinion to have. All that shows is that you don't care about the source material.
codex You must have really low standards then. The show has a Robin that says things about Batman that Dick Grayson would never say in his entire life. They have a Starfire that doesn't look or act like any Starfire in the history of DC. Raven acts more like a scare little girl than any Raven ever shown in any comic or cartoon or animated movie. The show is mediocre at best.
rabbitsocks the teen titans didnt feature cyborg until the 1980s aka 16 years after the original run of the comics just because the teen titans cartoon had him doesn't mean he has to be in the teen titans. Also he will be in the Doom Patrol spinoff but prob even then not really much given contractual issues between the channel and warner bros aka the makers of the dc movies there was a huge stink about flash and deathstroke already not sure how much further tv wants to push dc. it should just be like marvel as much as i prefer dc to marvel they have there shit together much better
